Before selecting a placement or routing a cord, measure the temperature and humidity at the proposed panel location during a full sauna cycle. Continue only if those readings remain inside the panel’s operating limits and its instructions expressly allow that placement or hanging method in the sauna; otherwise, place the panel outside the hot room or use it in a separate session. Once the environmental check passes, have the power arrangement verified, use only a placement or hanging method permitted by both current sets of instructions, and test the retrofit in stages before anyone sits inside.
Check whether the panel can operate in your sauna

Start with the panel manual and the sauna manual. Look for an operating temperature range, humidity range, required ventilation clearance, permitted placement or hanging methods, power requirements, and any restriction involving steam, heaters, glass, or combustible surfaces. An IP enclosure rating addresses the protection provided by the enclosure, so a water-resistance rating alone does not establish that a device can tolerate sustained sauna heat or direct steam.
Next, measure the conditions at the exact location where the panel would be placed or hung. Use a temperature and humidity logger that is itself rated for the expected environment. Secure it at the proposed position, run the sauna through a normal cycle without a person inside, and review the highest readings after the room cools. A reading near a stated limit is not a comfortable design margin; ask the panel manufacturer whether that location is acceptable rather than guessing.
The result changes with the sauna:
- Lower-temperature sauna: If the measured location stays inside every stated environmental limit, the proposed placement or hanging method may be possible. Continue with power and installation checks.
- Traditional hot sauna: If the location rises above the panel’s maximum operating temperature, do not place or hang that panel inside. Use it outside the heated enclosure or choose another explicitly supported location only if a new measurement proves that it remains within limits for the entire cycle.
- Steam or direct-splash area: Do not proceed unless the instructions expressly permit that exact environment and placement or hanging method. Move the panel outside the enclosure when steam exposure cannot be ruled out.
The BestQool sauna red light panel is a possible fit only for a sauna location that stays within its listed conditions. Its current planning specifications are 19.9 by 10.2 by 3.0 inches, 7.7 pounds, 120 watts, a maximum operating temperature of 55°C (131°F), and 50% to 95% relative humidity. Confirm those limits and the permitted placement or hanging method in the current manual before relying on them. If the measured location exceeds 55°C (131°F), keep this panel outside the heated enclosure or use it separately.
Plan the placement and power path together
Make a full-size cardboard outline using the panel’s dimensions. Hold it at the proposed position while the sauna is cool. Check the seated viewing area, door movement where relevant to the approved method, heater clearance, air vents, control access, and the complete cord route. The cord should not cross a heater, rest on a hot surface, pass over a sharp edge, doorway, or other pinch point, or create a trip or exit hazard.
Do not assume an available receptacle has enough capacity for both appliances. Give a licensed electrician the sauna nameplate information, panel wattage and voltage, receptacle location, and planned cord route. Have the electrician determine whether the circuit, overcurrent protection, receptacle, grounding arrangement, and damp-location protection meet the applicable local requirements. Do not alter fixed sauna wiring or add an interior receptacle unless the current instructions and applicable local requirements permit it and the work is performed by a qualified person as required locally.
Use only the exact placement or hanging relationship expressly permitted by both current instructions, consistent with the requirement that listed or labeled electrical equipment be installed and used according to its included instructions. Confirm the approved attachment points, required clearances, load limits, and any required secondary retention. Do not infer that a supported hanging method authorizes wall, ceiling, or other fixed mounting.
For the BestQool panel, the documented options are its door-hanging hardware or adjustable rope and braided steel cables. Those options do not authorize wall mounting. Confirm the approved attachment points, required clearances, and whether secondary retention is required before choosing between those supported methods.
Install the panel without blocking cooling or escape

Before any work, follow the panel and sauna instructions for power isolation, cooling, access to hidden components, and the permitted placement or hanging method. Let every surface cool before beginning. Carry out only the explicitly approved installation steps; do not drill, fasten, or alter the sauna to create a different mounting relationship.
Position the panel using the approved placement or hanging method, then verify the required space around its fans and ventilation openings. Attach it only at the approved points, use only the specified hardware, and install any required secondary safety cable according to the instructions. Before connecting power, pull gently in each direction as appropriate for the approved method to confirm that the panel does not shift, rotate, or lift free.
Route and secure the cord only through a path approved by the applicable instructions. If the approved method involves a door, move the door slowly from fully closed to fully open while watching the cord. A cord that tightens, folds sharply, rubs, or enters the hinge or latch area needs a different route. Do not continue if the cord path blocks an exit, reduces heater clearance, traps the panel’s cooling air, or requires an unapproved change to the sauna or the approved placement method.
Test the retrofit before the first combined session
Testing should expose one type of problem at a time. Keep the sauna empty, remain nearby, and stop immediately for a burning smell, smoke, sparking, repeated breaker operation, unusual noise, loose attachment, cord softening, or an unexpected panel shutdown.
- Cold placement or hanging check: Leave both devices off. Inspect the approved attachment points and any required restraints. If the approved method involves a door, open and close it while confirming that the panel remains stable and the cord stays clear.
- Panel-only check: With the sauna still cold, power the panel through the approved supply. Test the controls, timer, light modes, and cooling features that the specific model’s instructions list. Let it complete the applicable cycle specified by its instructions, then disconnect power and inspect the plug, cord, housing, and approved attachment or placement points.
- Sauna-only check: Run the normal sauna cycle with the panel off. Verify the temperature and humidity again at the panel location. Stop the retrofit if either reading leaves the panel’s operating range.
- Combined empty-room check: Run both systems while the sauna remains unoccupied. Start within the shortest permitted conditions, then increase the combined test in stages within the manufacturers’ limits until it matches the actual expected session duration and environmental conditions. Watch from outside and stop for any abnormal movement, shutdown, airflow restriction, odor, sound, or other warning sign.
- Cool-down inspection: Disconnect the panel and allow it to cool. Check the approved attachment or placement points, cord, plug, and any cable restraints for looseness, discoloration, deformation, or abrasion.
If a breaker operates, leave both systems off and have a qualified electrician diagnose the cause before any further test or use. Likewise, a panel that shuts down only when the sauna heats may be exceeding an environmental limit or losing cooling airflow; moving it to a verified cooler location or outside the cabin is safer than repeating the test.
The retrofit is ready only when the approved placement or hanging method stays secure, the door and exit work normally where relevant, measured conditions remain within the confirmed limits, the electrical supply operates without heating or interruption, and both devices complete the combined empty-room test at the actual expected session duration and environmental conditions permitted by their instructions. Keep the panel and sauna instructions with the installation so future users do not change the approved placement, cord route, or operating conditions without repeating these checks.
