Before turning on your red light device, start the music or podcast, lock your phone, and test the one control you expect to use with your eyes closed. If you can pause, change the volume, and resume without looking, begin the session; if you cannot, fix the audio route or choose a simpler control method first.

If you have not yet chosen how the sound will reach you, start with this guide to built-in audio for sauna and red light therapy, then return here to configure the phone and controls.

Prepare the complete audio session before the light goes on

Choose the episode, playlist, or album before you get into position. Remove anything that could make you reach for the screen halfway through:

  1. Connect the headphones, speaker, or red light device you plan to use.
  2. Start the exact audio you want rather than leaving the app on a menu.
  3. Set a comfortable volume while you are already in your treatment position.
  4. Turn off notifications or use your phone's focus mode if alerts would interrupt the audio.
  5. Lock the phone and confirm that the audio continues.

Place the phone where it is easy to hear, and follow the device instructions for permitted placement. On iPhone, Apple's Focus guidance explains how to silence selected notifications before the session.

The BestQool Sauna Red Light Therapy panel can connect wirelessly for music or podcasts, and its voice controls include volume control. Those controls are designed to work without Wi-Fi from about 2 meters (6.6 feet) away when nothing blocks the path. Confirm the commands and permitted placement in the current instructions before relying on them during a session.

Choose one control method that works without sight

Fingertip pressing a raised play-pause button on a portable speaker

Use the fewest controls needed for the session. Pause and volume are usually enough; skipping, browsing, and searching are more likely to pull you back to the screen.

If your headphones or speaker have physical buttons, learn their positions before the light is on. Check that one press pauses instead of ending the connection, and make sure the volume buttons control the audio device you expect.

If your phone supports voice control, try the exact words you plan to use from your treatment position. Test the command with the phone in the state and location you expect during the session. If it does not work in that setup, choose a different control method.
