Freestanding panels remove the need for a tabletop or frame attachment, but they introduce different stability requirements. Instead of clamp grip and arm tension, the main concerns are stand assembly, base support, floor conditions, rolling, clearance around the user, and cable routing.
Prevent Rolling, Shifting, and Tipping
A wheeled stand can make it easier to move a panel into position, but wheel brakes only limit rolling when they are engaged. They do not, by themselves, establish resistance to tipping or rocking. For a freestanding setup, check that:

Use the Same Pre-Session Check for Either Format
Before each treatment session, use a short no-movement check:
- Set the intended position. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for distance, orientation, and use.
- Check from the treatment position. Sit, stand, or lie where you will actually be during the session and confirm that the target area remains properly positioned.
- Inspect the support. Confirm that the clamp, arm, stand, panel connection, and base do not wobble, rotate, or visibly settle.
- Secure the cord. Make sure the cable has enough slack that it cannot pull on the device, and keep it out of doorways and walking paths.
- Check the exit route. Do not place the device, stand, chair, or cable where it blocks a clear path out of the area.
- Stop if the setup changes. Reposition or discontinue the session if the light slips, sags, rocks, rolls, loosens, becomes uncomfortably hot, or is disturbed by contact.
