There is no universal maximum number of minutes for facial red light therapy. The safe limit depends on the exact device, its output, the distance from your skin, the wavelengths used, and its instructions for session length and frequency.
Start with the manual for your specific device—not an online timing chart, another brand’s routine, or a study protocol. Do not extend a session simply because a different mask or panel recommends more time. If you develop skin discomfort, persistent redness, or visual symptoms, stop or reduce use.
Use Your Device’s Instructions as the Ceiling

Start Conservatively Within the Manual’s Guidance

Avoid these common mistakes:
- Starting with the longest available session because it seems more efficient.

The right maximum session is not the longest duration you can find online. It is the longest duration that stays within the verified instructions for your exact device and is tolerated without adverse effects.
